Tips for Planting Spring Bulbs
 While we are still enjoying falling leaves and some warm autumn days, it is time to think about your garden awakening next spring.  Garden centres are stocked with many flowering bulbs to cheer your first view of the garden or balcony after the snow melts.  Remember to research early flowering ones, such as snowdrops and scillas, as well as the many varieties of ever popular daffodils, hyacinths and tulips.Here are my suggestions for successful spring blooms.Buy high quality bulbs – the bigger the betterChoose the right location – well drained with full sunPrepare the hole or urn – add 1” of peat moss, manure and bone mealPlant bulbs deep enough – three times deeper than their height, pointed side up, top with mulch, and water wellPlanting period – September until the first frost, daffodils first and tulips lastEnjoy your garden all year round!  .
